Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas with a half-life of 3.8 days from the decay chain series of uranium -238.Radon decays into various radionuclides most of which are alpha emitters endangering body cells as they get exposed to radiation.More,so descendants among them being lead-210 are solid particles with a longer half-life ,they tent to stick on dust particles and therefore when inhaled they pole a health risk. The levels of radon are high during winter as a result of frozen ground among other factors.During this time most people spent their time indoors which leads to higher exposure. There is a constant source of radon production in the ground which means all people are exposed to the risks of this life threatening gas and thus need to take action. However, how comes a large population do not pay attention to this gas?And what can be done to reduce the risks from radon?Join me in my poster presentation as I share ways to measure radon levels in homes, offices and practices that will ensure safe living from risks of radon.
