Effective management of nuclear materials is essential for maintaining nuclear security and ensuring compliance with international safeguards. Nigeria's growing nuclear ambitions, coupled with a shortage of skilled personnel, underscore the urgency of capacity-building initiatives. This paper examines the current state of nuclear materials management in Nigeria, identifying critical challenges such as inadequate training, limited infrastructure, and gaps in regulatory compliance. It highlights successful capacity-building efforts globally and explores their applicability to Nigeria’s context. Through a proposed framework encompassing education, specialized training programs, and stakeholder collaboration, this research outlines a strategic approach to addressing these challenges. By bridging the skills gap, Nigeria can enhance its nuclear materials management capabilities, contributing to regional and global non-proliferation efforts.
