The Mobile Detection Station 2.0 (MAS 2.0) is a solution developed by the Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD) to enhance the operational efficiency of frontline officers by removing the limitations of traditional Central Alarm Station (CAS). MAS 2.0 empowers officers to move freely across the site while maintaining real-time situational awareness and connectivity. MAS 2.0 is a versatile, web-based application that can be easily deployed on existing computers or mobile devices, allowing seamless monitoring of alarms, communication faults, and equipment failures from anywhere within the site. A key differentiator of MAS 2.0 is its integration with a wireless mesh network, which ensures secure and uninterrupted connectivity for officers, with a reduced need for traditional, costly network infrastructure such as trenching, conduit, cabling, concrete, and permitting. This wireless network will drive down implementation and maintenance costs significantly. Additionally, the system’s flexibility and scalability reduce long-term operational costs, making MAS 2.0 a cost-effective and efficient solution for improving site security and officer productivity.
